Global Talent Development & Inclusion (GTDI) was established in 2017 as a groundbreaking diversity and inclusion department for the feature film industry.

Under the leadership of Universal Filmed Entertainment Group (UFEG) Chairman Donna Langley, GTDI builds upon the Studio’s long legacy of telling stories and creating art with inclusive narratives that reflect the global audience.

GTDI’s strategic guidance targets both creative and workforce talent, working closely with Production and Human Resources, respectively. The team is a resource for all UFEG portfolio companies, including Universal Pictures, Focus Features, DreamWorks Animation, Fandango and Rotten Tomatoes. GTDI also partners with various divisions across NBCUniversal.

Inclusion within our business is a top priority. GTDI works to create opportunities for talent at various points in their creative journeys and at all levels of the Studio.

Its multi-tiered approach to developing a pipeline of creative and workforce talent focuses on providing access to all facets of the studio system, as well as increasing awareness among the Studio’s executives and producing partners.

The GTDI team also leads the Studio’s outreach efforts with key external partners, supporting diversity and inclusion efforts across the industry.

Meet the Team

Janine Jones-Clark

Head of Inclusion - Talent & Content

As Head of Inclusion – Talent & Content, Janine Jones-Clark oversees a multi-tiered strategy to increase awareness and access for underrepresented groups.  She joined Universal in 2017 to launch Global Talent Development & Inclusion (GTDI), a first-of-its-kind diversity and inclusion department for the feature film industry. Reporting directly to Universal Filmed Entertainment Group (UFEG) Chairman Donna Langley, Jones-Clark leads diversity and inclusion strategies for production and workforce for Universal Pictures, Focus Features, DreamWorks Animation, Fandango and Rotten Tomatoes.

Building upon the studio’s commitment to telling stories with multi-cultural, global perspectives, Jones-Clark and her team work to ensure that UFEG’s content, creative talent and workforce represent the global community. A resource for divisions across the UFEG portfolio, she provides meaningful consultation with an inclusion lens throughout the entire pre-production process, including script notes, casting and below-the-line recommendations. Jones-Clark oversees workforce initiatives such as the Executive Inclusion Initiative, which introduces an inclusive talent pool of high-performing external executives to NBCUniversal’s Talent Acquisitions team and hiring managers. Her team also manages Universal Access, which provides talent from underrepresented groups exposure to the Studio’s production process and vast workforce opportunities. Jones-Clark works closely with external partners throughout UFEG and NBCUniversal, including The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ Academy Gold Program, Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media, Sundance Institute FilmTwo Fellowship, AFI Directing Workshop for Women, Ghetto Film School, Easterseals, and ReelAbilities Film Festival – Los Angeles.

GTDI’s approach for developing a pipeline of up-and-coming creative talent focuses on access to the studio system as well as increasing awareness from the Studio’s executives and producing partners. Since its launch, GTDI has instated and cultivated the Universal Writers Program, Universal Animation Writers Program, Universal Directors Initiative and Universal Composers Initiative. These programs and initiatives have led to real institutional change with several alumni taking jobs at the Studio as well as throughout the industry.

Prior to joining Universal, Jones-Clark had successful careers in television publicity and current programming at FOX, NBC and The WB. While at NBC, she was awarded the Maxwell Weinberg Publicist Showmanship Award for her efforts on the Friends campaign.  She later transitioned into diversity at Disney|ABC Television, where she redesigned and lead the studio’s creative talent development programs to increase opportunities for diverse writers and episodic directors. 

A Los Angeles Native, Jones-Clark received her Bachelor of Arts degree with a dual major in Mass Communications and Sociology from the University of California, Berkeley.

Emerlynn Lampitoc

Vice President

Emerlynn Lampitoc joined Universal Filmed Entertainment Group’s (UFEG) Global Talent Development & Inclusion department at its inception in 2017. Reporting directly to the Head of Inclusion - Talent & Content, she works closely on the development and implementation of strategies to increase both creative and workforce inclusion within Universal Pictures, Focus Features, DreamWorks Animation, Fandango and Rotten Tomatoes. She also oversees the day-to-day execution of the department’s creative pipeline efforts which include the Universal Writers Program, Universal Animation Writers Program, Universal Directors Initiative and the Universal Composers Initiative. Additionally, she co-leads the studio’s Executive Inclusion Initiative which facilitates female and diverse talent introductions to NBCUniversal’s Executive Search and Talent Acquisitions teams, as well as hiring managers throughout UFEG. Lampitoc serves as a liaison for the department’s external relationships with such groups as AFI and Sundance FilmTwo and is key in driving all outreach efforts.

Prior to joining Universal, she was Manager of Creative Talent Development & Inclusion for Disney ABC Television where she was instrumental in staffing writers and securing episodic directing assignments for female and diverse talent on ABC, Freeform, and Disney Channel. Lampitoc’s varied background also includes unscripted television development and production; studio drama development positions at 20th Century Fox and Paramount; and publicity positions at NBC and ABC.

Raised in Honolulu, HI, Lampitoc received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism and a minor in Creative Writing from Whitworth University in Spokane, WA.

Michael Berendt


United Kingdom native Michael Berendt is Coordinator for Global Talent Development & Inclusion. In his role, Michael oversees the management of the office of the Senior Vice President and works closely on all creative and workforce initiatives.  He launched his career as Executive Assistant to British director David Yates while he helmed films from the Harry Potter Franchise and The Legend of Tarzan.  Additional on-set experience includes Focus Features' The Darkest Hour. Before relocating to the U.S., Michael was a Creative Executive at London-based independent production company Unlimited Pictures where he oversaw development, film financing opportunities and the annual Cannes Film Festival engagements.  An Honors graduate of the University of the Arts, London, Michael holds a Bachelor's degree in Theatre & Dance History.  His other interests include international travel and all things ancient Egypt, including the study of Egyptian hieroglyphs.
